Sima Foundation

A group of 30 monks from Nauyana Monastery, Srilanka led by Mahathera Pannrama gathered at the new branch in Chekkapalli to place marking stone for Sima. Sima( boundary) is a designated place for gathering and  undertaking moral precepts for monastics. It is also necessary for performing any monastic disciplinary procedures like ordination of a new monk. additionally the place will be used as group meditation area as well as a place for Dhamma talks at suitable times.

The common consent of Sangha was given to establish the Sima a specific place. On 4th of Feb. being the day of Purnima uposatha, the Sangha gathered at the new Sima area and chanted the first Patimokkha making the event one with historical significance. As Buddhism has been lost to India for over 1500 years, a large gathering of monks following all the precepts was pleasant and hopeful for the Sangha and the Upasaka alike.
